Born Oppenheimer assumes nuclei as fixed as compared to the motion of electrons. Thus at high temperatures, strong magnetic fields and other situations when the motion of nuclei must be taken into consideration i.e, when the dynamics of nuclei is comparable to the dynamics of electrons, Born Oppenheimer approximation must avoided.
