    Quantum physics is considered ab initio because (a) we start from the most basic laws of physics to explain (b) We start from the hydrogen atom for all our understanding

    Classical mechanics is considered ab initio since we start from elementary physical quantities like displacement, time to describe laws of nature.

    Electromagnetism is not ab initio since it starts with time varying electric and magnetic fields which can still be broken down into simpler mathematical models. Maxwell’s equations.

    ohh I always understood Electromagnetism as synonymous with the Maxwell Equations. I agree EM isn’t ab initio but this is due to Quantum effects. Curious that you understood it differently.
