Ab initio means from the first principles, ie. it’s based on basic laws of nature, and does not assume any other theoretical or experimental base.
Schrödinger eq’s form a base for QM, and Newtons laws for mechanics. Electromagnetism is described by Maxwells equations, so it is also ab initio model.
