We call quantum mechanics as ab initio model because it is a fundamental model that cannot be fundamentalize further. Classical mechanics can describe the nature in the macroscopic level but when it’s about the microscopic level it fails to do so. We can go from classical to quantum mechanical theory by using some constraints for the microscopic world and quantum mechanics can sufficiently describe the nature in the microscopic level.
