    Quantum physics sees the world from electronic structure aspect of view. This is by far the smallest aspect we might see and solve a problem. That’s why it is called ab initio.

    Classical mechanics could also be called an ab initio if the problem at hand does not necessarily need lower scale phenomena (could be simulated/seen only with macro scale theories.)

    I don’t know yet if electromagnetism is called ab initio or not.
