Ab Initio

Quantum mechanics is an ab initio model because it describes nature using principles like the Schrodinger equation, which can be used to make predictions at a larger scale. The same is true for classical mechanics and Newton Laws.

Electromagnetism likewise could be used as part of an ab initio model, using Maxwell’s equations as first principles. It may be necessary to use it in conjunction with classical mechanics however.
