Quantum-based material’s calculations are a simulation activity because the theory that describe the behavior of the constituents are already known. It has been tested with experiments in early stages of the field, in the past. The difficulty nowadays lies in the combination of the known laws of the theory, because in some materials the constituents could arise very complex equations.

Although, many people could have the opposite opinion because quantum mechanics are still considered a complicated topic. Some people may not know that the constituents of the solid are quantum particles with electromagnetic interactions between them.
