Our ability to describe properties of solids and materials relying solely on the laws of quantum physics is limited by how complex of a problem our computers can handle in a reasonable time, because solving the equations of quantum physics cannot be done analytically and requires large computations. As our computers advance, we get more possibilities to perform meaningful computational analysis and the education in this field should incorporate these methods, as their importance continuously grows.
