When I think about purchasing a computer, the first thing I should think about is the use I want to give it, that is, only to generate documents or do I also want it to run simulation calculations of nanomaterials/molecules. If the answer is the latter then I must consider the number of cores, the RAM, whether it has a solid state drive, the graphics memory, the type of processor, etc.
