Jacob’s ladder

It is a metaphorical ladder for hierarchy of approximations of exchange correlation functional. The rungs of the ladder indicate different approximations from least accurate to the most accurate approximation but with the cost of more extensive computational power. The approximations are LDA, GGA, Meta-GGA, Hybrid and Double hybrid approximations- each representing a higher rung than others in the Jacob’s ladder.
