The following reasons seem very prominent:
a) Understanding the basic tenets of quantum mechanics such as operators, wave-particle duality
b) Moving away from the rigid-body conceptual framework of solids
c) Discomfort with calculus – particularly multiple integration
d) Connecting axioms with suitable mathematical equations
e) Discomfort with other aspects – software programming
