These calculations fall into category of simulation because in these calculations, fundamental laws and equations are well established and we use them to perform computer experiments.
People have opposite notion because of the fact that the solution of the fundamental equations describing realistic systems is too computationally expensive leading to a belief that the underlying theory needs more development.
