Why is not yet everyone using plain quantum physics to talk about solids? This may be because scientists and engineers are uncomfortable committing to, or admitting to, the need to learn something altogether new to them, especially in their field of expertise. This may be especially difficult when the change is happening during their time. A tipping point should be reached eventually when enough people adopt the use quantum physics to talk about solids.
